“Broad Reach Bookings was purpose-built for exactly what we do. The switch was seamless and we haven’t looked back.”

Southern Cross Yachting helps people take their first steps aboard and develop the skills to sail further. Based in Manly, Queensland, the school teaches in Moreton Bay and the Whitsundays, with a programme spanning introductory sailing and RYA qualifications. In 2023, the team moved from Rezdy to Broad Reach.

Different ways to learn. One school behind them.

Southern Cross gives its students several ways to complete their training. Competent Crew, for example, can be taken as a five-day liveaboard, a three-day and two-day combination, or three separate weekends.

That flexibility matters to students fitting sailing around work and family. For the school, it means managing a range of course formats and variants. The booking and scheduling system needs to work with that detail.

The next chapter: 33% more bookings, 30% more revenue.

Southern Cross’s story has continued as Broad Reach has developed. Following the upgrade from Broad Reach v1 to v2, the school increased bookings by 33% and revenue by 30%. These figures compare its experience across the two versions of Broad Reach.

The earlier move from Rezdy in 2023 brought its own operational benefits. Easier course scheduling, more choice in booking widgets and integrated automation established the foundation of the school’s relationship with Broad Reach.

Scheduling around the way the school teaches.

When Southern Cross moved to Broad Reach in 2023, easier scheduling was an immediate benefit. Broad Reach suited the complexity of the school’s courses and the different variants it needed to offer.

The value was practical: the team could manage its course offering in a system designed around the requirements of training providers. The way Southern Cross teaches could shape the schedule.

A booking flow that suits the business.

The move also improved the customer-facing booking flow. Broad Reach’s wider range of booking widgets gave Southern Cross more choice in how to present its courses and guide customers towards a booking.

For a school offering several ways to learn, that choice matters. The booking experience can reflect the courses on offer and help customers find the option that suits them.

Connecting the whole customer journey.

Southern Cross also benefited from integrated systems and automations across the customer life cycle. Booking became part of a connected operation, with automation supporting the relationship through the wider journey.

Together, these changes gave the school three clear benefits from its move: easier management of complex courses, a better booking experience, and more of the customer journey working together in one platform.
